Job Description:
As a painter, your goal will be to support our facility by providing painting services and working within our maintenance team.
This position reports to the Director of Plant Operations.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Making on-site preparations such as building scaffolding, covering fixtures etc.
  • Covering trim, floors, furniture and other surfaces with masking tape, drop cloths and other protective coverings to keep them free of paint.
  • Setting up ventilators and other safety equipment to protect painters from unhealthy fumes.
  • Preparing surfaces to be painted by washing them, filling holes and cracks with putty and sanding them until they're smooth. Applying texture if required to match existing.
  • Applying primer and other sealers to paint surfaces to ensure that paint sticks to them.
  • Mixing and matching paint, stain and other finishes to job specifications.
  • Applying paint, stain and other finishes to paint surfaces using paintbrushes, rollers or sprayers.
  • Maintaining an inventory of supplies like paint brushes, rollers and tarps.
  • Removing old finish using scrapers or chemical compounds.
  • Estimating time and material needed on painting projects.
  • Cleaning machines, equipment and work areas using water, solvents and other cleaning aids.
  • Reviewing and implementing work orders and assignments.
  • Removing and reinstalling fixtures (i.e., doorknobs, electric switch covers) as necessary.
  • Following safeguards, rules and regulations.
  • This position would also be expected to cover holidays and on call on a rotating basis. The position would also assist with snow removal when needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proven experience as a painter.
  • Excellent knowledge of painting material and how to select, mix and apply them.
  • Solid knowledge of commercial and/or construction painting techniques.
  • Aptitude in using appropriate tools (brushes, caulking guns etc.).
  • Good basic math skills.
  • Manual dexterity with excellent balance to work on scaffolding, ladders etc.
  • Conscientious with great attention to detail.
  • High school diploma; successful completion of an apprenticeship.
  • Must hold a valid drivers license
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
